Stand mixer versatility: Stand mixers are powerful units and should be used to tackle fundamental cooking and baking tasks. We wanted to see performance, quality and functionality that reflected the price. Value for money: Stand mixers can vary widely in price, costing anything from under £100 up to nearly £900.Our meringue needed to be glossy and evenly whisked, our dough well-risen with a light and airy crumb when baked, and our cake also needed to be light with evenly distributed zest. Results of functions: We looked for machines that efficiently and evenly mixed ingredients. We also looked for robust and well made attachments and bowls. Overall quality of materials: Stand mixers that are sturdy and built to stand the tests of time were ones that scored highly.Models that arrived with recyclable or biodegradable packaging scored better. Packaging: We wanted to see securely packaged stand mixers without tonnes of plastic. The Chef range is a little more muted, only showcasing grey, white and cream. But, a light stand mixer is not always a good thing. Most stand mixers weigh between 7kg and 10kg. Weight: If you haven't got space to keep your stand mixer out on the kitchen counter, you’ll need to make sure that your chosen one isn’t too heavy for you to transport. From Kenwood, the Kenwood kMix range is the smallest stand mixer on offer, while the Chef range is larger and features both Chef and Chef XL sizes. KitchenAid offer three sizes of stand mixer the KitchenAid 3.3L is the smallest model, the KitchenAid Artistan 5KSM125, 175 and 185 are the medium-sized models, and the KitchenAid Artisan Bowl-Lift range is the largest. While you may be able to keep your mixer neatly tucked under a cupboard, you’ll need to work out whether you’ll have enough space to use it when the head is tilted back as this can add a good 10-15cm to the height. If this is the plan for your new mixer, consider how much space you’ve got to spare and check out the dimensions. Size: Many people like to keep their stand mixer out of the kitchen counter, both for convenience and because they make a great-looking statement piece. But there are a couple of other factors to take into consideration before you make your final decision, including: Will have to check to see if it will work with a smaller bowl, too.How each model performed in these key areas is detailed in their respective individual reviews. It will get a good workout during the holidays! I am a single grandma and don't cook as much as I used to, so I think I could have gotten by with one smaller than the 5-quart. In the three weeks that I have had it, I have only made one batch of cookies and one batch of dinner rolls. It looks darker in the box than it does on my countertop, so it turned out ok. I expected the color to be an off-white, but it is a little darker than that-almost a light beige. I chose the Porcelain color because it is neutral and I can readily change my kitchen decor when the mood strikes me. "Premium Touchpoints" means that the knobs to turn it on and off are silver instead of black. The difference is night and day! The mixer is very heavy so I will be leaving it out on my countertop rather than lugging it from the pantry whenever I want to use it. Just what I've always wanted! I replaced a 40+ years-old mixer with this one.

We recommend centering the event around lunch time. The time and length of the event can vary. In our experience, Saturdays are the best day of the week for a shred day since most people are free. The time is important, but so is the day and time. Remember that your volunteers and workers will have to stand in the elements during the event, so do you best to pick a day that is likely to have decent weather. Avoid times of year that a commonly rainy, windy, or too cold. Weather can be unpredictable, but in our experience, the best options for a shred day are times in mid to late spring, summer, and early fall. When choosing a time for your shred day you should consider when the greatest number of people are going to have free time to attend you event and what the weather will be like on that day. You need to choose a location that allows traffic to flow in one direction to avoid jams and accidents. The DSS vehicles and the event signage can attract more people as they drive by.Īccess: At shred days you should expect a steady flow of vehicles driving through to drop off their paper. Choose a location that is not only easy to find, but easy to see from a main road. The amount of space you need will vary depending on the size of your event, but regardless of size, there must be enough room for volunteers to stand safely as traffic passes through the event.Įasy to find: No matter how much planning goes into your event, if people have trouble finding your event you will lose attendees. There must a be enough room for shred trucks and other DSS vehicles to set up in a line and for lanes where people can enter and exit in an orderly fashion. Size: Shred days are generally held outdoors in parking lots or other open areas with easy access for vehicles. When choosing a site for an event, there are four major considerations. For shred days, choosing a location can be a bit more complicated. You want to place you bins somewhere at your location(s) that is open and easily accessible such as a lobby or front office. For a shred week, location is typically already determined to be at your office. The strategy for choosing a location changes depending on the type of event you are hosting. A shredding event is a great way to raise awareness and provide a convenient solution. More and more people are aware that they need to secure their documents, but they do not always know where to go or how to do it. Hosting a shredding event means you give the public an easy alternative to securely destroy their documents instead of throwing them in the trash for criminals to find. According to the AARP, identity theft numbers doubled in 2020. While anyone can be a victim of identity theft, predators like to target the most vulnerable such as seniors. The victims of these crimes may not even know until their credit is ruined. It takes absolutely no skill to pull documents out of the trash and use their contents for criminal activity. While computer breaches make major headlines, most criminals are not hackers. Shredding events provide an important public service, allow you to connect with the community, and promote your brand.Įvery year, cases of identity theft and fraud continue to increase. Are you looking for a unique event to engage the local community? Do you want to attract potential customers to your brand or raise money for your non-profit?
